Split Tour Gay History Queer Roman Emperors and LGBTQ+ Struggle

Explore Split’s LGBTQ+ history from the Roman Empire to the present day on this guided walking tour through the city. Led by a licensed Split guide who also works as a mental health professional and counsellor, the tour looks at Roman attitudes towards same-sex relationships, the lives of emperors and their lovers, and figures including Elagabalus.

You’ll explore Diocletian’s Palace, hear medieval stories and legends, and learn how LGBTQ+ life in Croatia changed through war, activism, Pride marches and legal reform.
